Intercultural Communication in the German Workplace for STEM

What can you expect when you enter the German workplace after university? And how can you communicate confidently when workplace norms and expectations feel unfamiliar?

This interactive, practice-oriented workshop invites international STEM students to explore these questions and prepare for their transition from university to professional life in Germany. Through real-life workplace scenarios, practical exercises, and open discussion, you will reflect on your own cultural background and explore communication styles in German workplaces, including the implicit expectations that are not always easy to recognise.

The workshop also creates a safe space to talk openly about uncertainties, misunderstandings, and challenging situations. Together, we will explore how curiosity, open-mindedness, and a collaborative mindset can help you navigate cultural differences, communicate more effectively, and feel more confident in your future workplace.

Before the workshop, participants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire about their expectations, questions, and previous experiences. The questionnaire should be completed at least two days before the workshop.
